Speaker:

Michael Shulman, Director of Sales , ReInk Technologies.

Michael shared information about inkjet and laser printers.

He warned the cost to repair a printer may approach the cost of a new printer.

cartridges. When a single color cartridge runs out of ink, you replace only the individual color cartridge. When a 3 color cartridge runs out of one color there is still ink in the cartridge for the other 2 colors but you end up throwing it away.

Use 24# inkjet paper for inkjets. Non-inkjet paper tends to absorb the ink differently and results in poorer print quality. The printer may grab 2 sheets of lighter weight paper causing a paper jam. Removing the jammed paper carelessly can result in printer damage. Never rip jammed paper out of a laser printer. Remove the toner cartridge first. Then gently pull the paper out. Use 20# paper.

Printers are not generally designed to print envelopes.

Leave inkjet printers turned on most of the time. When you shut them off, they purge ink from the print head. This ink is wasted.
